Chinese traditional courtyards are often seen in ground floors, where the shaped eaves expanded from encircling Chinese curved roofs are visually extended to the ground level and offer a soothing atmosphere for semi-outdoor activities.
This project’s primary attempt tends to arouse the potential of elevated courtyard and disobey the rules of traditional levelled eaves. The massive slope roof is overhung and spatially expanded upwards. This results in a three-dimensional conversation between both exterior and interior spaces.
Furthermore, the massiveness of each floor level in the building is diminished to soften the boundaries. The design features grant a tight bond between the site, architecture and nature.
